Photo with the SMUX Banner
We’re shipped blind folded to our first activity. Trekking! Haha. It was hilarious. We were told we were on a plane (bus actually) flying over some ocean, going to some island. Then when they said “Turbulence! “ We were supposed to scream.
Okay. So we crashed landed on a deserted island (which is some abandoned railway at Bukit Timah). The orange bands are where are injuries are and we have to find items along the way to heal ourselves. Like 2 red flowers to heal Neck Injury. 2 Yellow Leaves to heal a broken arm. So on and so forth.
In the jungle.
Oh I so hate this tunnel. The mud level was damn high and every step, our foot just sunk into the mud. How demoralizing!
We ended up at Sunset Way’s Bridge and were made to sing some love songs with guy-girl-guy-girl formation for SDU!
There was nightcycling after the trekking but no photos were taking by our faci! Haha
Blading on the second day! I tell u ah! I fell down like nobody’s business lah!
This is how shag we were before diving. A few of us stayed up the night talking and slept for only 45 mins!
We were told to build a sand castle to signal to the planes flying above us!
Another Sand Castle pic!
The eventual result! DAMN NICE RIGHT!!
The ART!
As usual, Serena poses!
Finally we were diving after having sand and sea water all over our body!
Another diving pic!
United we stand (laid) in a circle!
Last day after Kayaking, while we were waiting for the finale telematch to begin. My group decided to play some games. And I got forfeit twice lah! But not as many as somebody! *cough*
Yes one forfeit. Self Explanatory.
Where’s Winfrid? This was one of the forfeit. To go to a group and pretend that my ship was capsizing until somebody lends a hand.
The final challenge!
And one final cheer!
Gello is so Seh-O! Not bad. They awarded us for being the MOST RARA group! Haha. Best Cheer!
Nothing is complete without the SMU JUMP!

Challenged Group 6 to a round of The Cocoon Championships 2006. Chris accepted the challenge! Haha.
Many groups were out drinking the second night and mine included. By 5am my group was damn high lah. When we got back to Biz Block, there were a lot of people either damn HIGH or drunk walking around. Haha damn funny! I think out of the 20 groups, there were at least 10 groups drinking that night. TO the Pub!
Drinking @ Campus green!
Our Facis (Facilitators) who got forfeit! our "Mummy" and "the God-Father". haha. That's what we call them.
FIDES Catholic Camp 4th – 5th August 2006

At St Joseph’s Church where were were told that St Joseph was a Carpenter and we were supposed to make tables and chairs using Ice Cream Sticks!
Another pic!
The end result!
The next clue “ High in the ‘Spirit” My first thought was Vodka! Haha. In the end it was CHIJMES that used to be CHIJ and they have alcohol too!
We were made to run and dress up in SJI uniform and IJ St Nicks Uniform then either play 5 stones or blow bubbles to complete the acivity!
Novena Church Making Flowers for Mother Mary!
Haha. This is damn hilarious! The Proposal and REJECTION! Eeek!
My group “ Love! “
The whole FIDES Camp. Participants and Facis.

Oh I’m a lucky man.
Oh this is the best!! The guys posing as Superman and the girls posing as Wonderwoman. From the game – Superman ah Superman, batman ah batman, Wonderwoman ah wonderwoman….
That’s all to it! And I’m finally an official Student ready to embark my journey into SMU for the next 4 years! Wish me luck!
Back from Hong Kong! ACtually not really. Back from Hong Kong since tuesday night 12.05am. Back from SMU Sports camp : SWOOOSH! 2006. But that's a post for another day. So stay tuned!
Day 1. 13th July. Preparation.
Hilarious i tell you. Rushed to SMU in the morning to matriculate and signup for all my camps and attend a very boring but compulsory voluntary talk. Soon after that, Rison and I rushed off to meet andrew and we headed towards the Airport. And smart me (yes i know, i misread the itinerary), i said we were to be at the Budget Terminal to board the Jetstar Flight. When we go there, THERE WAS NO FRIGGIN' JETSTAR!! And it was already 2.30pm and our flight's 3.45pm. Took a cab back to Terminal One and from then on it was walking super duper fast to the flight door.
So off we go for our adventure!
To infinity and beyond!
The bottom right pic shows the interior of the Airport Express Train. It was helluva nice! Damn high class can! Where's Singapore man? MRT?
Thankfully Andrew's mother was there to pick us up at the airport terminal in Central MTR station to Park Lane Hotel, our place of residence for the next 5 nights.
Toured around our hotel that's supposedly smacked right in the centre of Hong Kong's Orchard Road! at 2am in the night, the whole Hong Kong was still awake with shops still opened and people walkig arond the place. COnsidering the next day's a work day. This is dman hardcore already, unlike SG!
Went to their "Welcome" Supermarket that opens 24 hrs and i could still see alot of people shopping. Walking to the fruits section this is what we saw. Mini Mango. Giant Banana. Small Watermelons.
Day 2. Macau and the highlight of the HK Trip!
Day started very early and we boarded the ferry to Macau.
The TurboJet is something interesting. Using HydroPropellants to travel on the waters. Took us no more than 1 hour to reach Macau. The Immigration Checkpoint at Macau is really SLOW. And the queue's super long lah.
We were approached by one tour guide who offered to bring us to the Macau Tower that costs 60HKD but only offered us 70HKD. We accepted it since it was quite a good offer and to our surprise, it was a car. Tour Agents who use their cars? Suspicious i was. As agreed he brought us to the Macau Sky Towere where we did our sky jump, 233m freefall descend from the tower. Along the way, he told us to consider the 540HKD Package to tour Macau.
The feeling's really awesome! Now my next target would be to SkyDive in Perth! That's what i've always wanted to do!
Walked to the lower levels to look at the view of Macau from the tower itself.
Funny thing was that the tourguide waited for us patiently and after the tower, he even brought us to eat but we declined. Instead we asked him to drive us to the Ruins of St. Paul where we've discussed to pay him the cash. But when we got there and when we paid him, he said " you have got it all wrong, i thought you guys wanted the full package after the tower." We were like WTF! But oh well, we eventually agreed.
Spot the SMU Jump =D
And he brought us to this famous shop which sells Macau's Delicacies. And waited for us for the next hour for us to walk around the place before driving us off to the Sands Casino.
Top Left is Sand's Casino, Macau's biggest Casino.
Went in the casino and played a few games on Jackpot and was turned off by it. 5 Games, i lost all the way. didn't even win any credit. So Rison and I just followed Andrew to play the "Big Small" Game and his Russian Roulette. Andrew's Jackpot was amazing! He won like 1000 credits in one shot. Which was like about 200hkd?
On the way back we met these 2 Girls from Macau's University doing a survey on Tourism in Macau. Had an interesting chat with them exchanging insights from both our countries.
Rushed back to Hong Kong after that and to Jumbo Restaurant where we ordered one 7 Course Meal. Which costs 1200 HKD. Around 80 dollars per person. The Peking Duck there rocks lah!
Went Clubbing After that. The Clubbing Scene at Lan Kuai Feng was hot! Mostly playing R&B! It was like another MS.
After walking a few rounds, we decided to go into The Cavern with their liveband since they sound the best from the outside.
The Centre-bottom Photo. This guy from taiwan and his friend approached us to make friends. And mentioned that he was here alone and wanted to tag along with us for the rest of our 4 days. I kinda felt uncomfortable. But he's able to get us Tickets into Disneyland at 100HKD.. WHich is around 20SGD instead of 350HKD / 75 SGD. Pondered for awhile and when we wanted to contact him on Sunday, We were not able to get through him to his hotel.
Day 3. Ocean Park. Victoria Peak.
Weather was good with thick clouds so it wasn't really boiling hot when we played with the rides. Their rollercoaster ride was quite hardcore with their 360 Degress turns. The Abbyss ride was not bad too. It's this tower thing and we sit around it, it brings us all the way up and drops us fast. Felt like zero G. The rest was quite normal. The Dolphin show rocks lah! I so LOVE dolphines can!
Rushed to Victoria Peak at night only to find it misty with visibility of not more than 20 metres.
Oh well. Since it was foggy, might as well have some fun.
Visited Madame Tussauds Wax Musuem on Victoria Peak.
View of Hong Kong from Victoria's Peak when the fog cleared up a little.
Day 4.
To Kowloon, we went! Shopping shopping shopping! Bought 1 DKNY long sleeve shirt, 2 ties, and 2 t-shirts! Went Sweet Dynasty as recommended by the Forums, and it was good! the Dim Sum's awesome! I love the fried squid bestest!
Met Andrew's Relative's family at night for dinner and they brought us to this place called Food Forum, 12 levels of Food and Restaurants! Went to this chinese restaurant because Andrew wants to eat his fried pigeon! It was the best meal in HK! We ate Fried Pigeon, Stone Fish Soup (something like shark's fin), Roasted Duck, Stone Fish steamed, Xiao Long Bao with Crabroll inside, Abalone and Fish intestines and Deserts!
Spot the giant lobster!
Ate 2 Hong Kong Delicacies, the Fried Pigeon and the Stone Fish. Apparently from what i gathered. The Stone Fish's something like the japanese Pufferfish. It it poisonous and it requires alot of skill to cook it. It has a hell lot of bones lah!
It was the Flea Market after dinner! Something like our Singapore Pasar malam, but so much bigger and has much more nicer pirated stuff! heh =D
Day 5. Disney Land! Disney land was not bad! Considering that this was the first Disney Land i've been to. There aren't alot of attractions. Just 3 main areas- Tomorrowland featuring Lilo and Stitch and Toy Story, Fantasy land, Featuring Sleeping Beauty and Winnie the Pooh and finally the Jungle Adventures featuring Tarzan and Lion King.
The Lilo and Stitch Show was interesting. We were brought into a dark room. And on Screen on Stitch. It was an interactive stitch. The stitch was able to talk to us and even point out who was wearing what and who he wants to talk to, but with a honky accent. From what i gathered, there are alot of Cameras on the ceiling in the dark room that captures images for the person voicing stitch. And the speech animation is quite zhun also. He opens his mouth at every syllable.
A roller coaster into the Space Mountain soon followed. We took the Toy Story Ride too. There were guns placed there and we were supposed to use the guns to shoot specific targets as our "carts" go through its course.
The best attraction i feel was the Lion King Musical where the people acted how Lion King came about. Really love that show!
Went for the River cruise, which was worth mentioning too with every haphazard things that put in the river to make it real. Like Piranhas coming towards the boat with lots of bubbles in the river around the boat, fire on petrol on the waters around us..
The best is yet to be. ( i know the line's damn copyright.) FIREWORKS!!!
Love the disney fireworks!
Day 6. Nothing much happened other than our journey back to SG and some shopping around our Causeway Bay.
I love HK!
kk! time to sleep and charge for SMU's Xtremist (SMUX) Camp!
Just got back from NDP's Family Day 2006 Rehearsal! In case you didn't know, i'm urshering there as part of an SMU/NDP Urshers Contingent for the Heartware Network. haha. I'm getting CIP hrs for it even before school starts, so why not?! haha. And met alot of cool people there too! haha smu rocks lah!
Urshering Singaporeans is really one big challenge. You tell them to go here, they go there. You tell them to go there, they say " but i have kids" " but i can't walk that high up" and the winner of them all "my children can't take loud noise, so i want to sit higher". Like wth, why are you even at NDP if your children can't take loud noise? Is any higher going to make any difference? It's probably 0.00000000000001 difference lah.
Oh yeah was super surprised to meet one of the students in my unit, Singapore Command and Staff College. haha. he was shocked to see me too, asking me " you ord already right? why are you here?? " haha! Like after ORD still do such things!
Those who are going for NDP this year, do go early coz the preparade's pack with alot of cool stuff! and whats more, we have F-16s flying low with deafening afterburners roaring past the crowd and the classic 5 plane formation. And for the first time, the Apaches make an appearance.
The fireworks this year was fantabulously awesome too! Featuring 2 segments one in the middle of the show and at the end of the show. For the Family Day, it's like a cut down version of the fireworks, but it's really awesome! Imagine the real day, when the full arsenal of fireworks goes pop in the air!
Taken with my Nokia 6280. Not the best, but good enough! haha.
Haha. Does this look abit like Gotham City in Batman?
Oh yes oh yes! The Room! I've more or less completed the revamping of my room except the lighting and the curtains that have yet to be done! so here it is! comments!
Oh yeah. I forgot to take a before pic of my room before i moved all the furniture and covered everything with newspaper. so this is the best already! for the "Before" pic. Somewhere before i started painting.
Blog now viewable on Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari!!
YAY! I finally solved the coding for Firefox and IE so that both browsers will show the same thing instead of a border problem in Firefox and perfect condition in IE.
It's been bugging me for months. and i believe those who used firefox had some viewing problem with the borders.
Objective: Clear the trash. Clean the room. Paint the walls. Bring in the goods! Status: ~Clear the trash. Check. ~Clean the room. Check. ~Paint the furniture. Half-check. Only all the wall's repainted nice nice white! orange.. pending.. ~Bring in the goods! Half-check.
Yes! it's the paint-the-room time! Out the mono painted walls, in the dual painted walls (is that how it's called?) ? Brother's moved out so i have the whole room to myself! Actually, he's moved out since June 05. haha. just too lazy to re-do the room. And guess what! After much boredom, yes. BOREDOM. i cleared the room of 7 Black trash bags of my things only! Threw 2 cupbaords, 1 bed away! Threw away most of my secondary school stuff and boy was i surprised, i found out alot of interesting correspondence of letters in class. From interesting, to VERY interesting. And Lem, if u see this, i think i saw a christmas card by u in 2001! That's like bloody long ago! It's super empty now. Okay lah. QUITE empty.
Above's the design i'm coming up for my room. I LOVE orange. The stripes idea was inspired from some shirt that i got a few months back. Forgot the brand, but it's some owl logo. The right of the image's the window alrdy, managed to get a left-curved-corner table (the one's in the pic is a right-corner table) from ikea.. and a shitloads of stuff to decorate my room. the wonders of ikea! haha. comments comments? Dun say like shit lah, i hurt leh. =D
And if you, my dear readers, haven't known! I'm clearing leave already! so so! SAY SAY SAY! Jio me out! It's now or never man! I'm too free now! Speaking of free, i can't wait for tomorrow! I'm part of SMU's NDP programme! how so cool! Last time i participated in NDP was in 2000 as a scout in the marching contingent that the RSM keeps shouting at ( RAISE YOUR LEGS! 45, 90 DEGREES!), coz we were quite slack. hah. BUT this time i'll be urshering people! And yes, 5-6 weeks of continuous fireworks!
