Sailing Log #3

Didn't practice my tacks and gybes.. but did alot of hiking out.. Practiced steering through waves by pointing as it hits the bow and bearing away as the wave goes under the boat.
Went upwind to changi and did alot of hiking out because the wind was overpowering. When i was at changi, there was no wind at all and the current pushed me out to sea.. I was in the path of the big container carriers until a powerboat from changi sea sports club towed me nearer to the shore.. and they asked me whether i needed help, i said yes and they called Pasir Ris Sea Sports to send a power boat to tow me back.. On the way back, i saw 5 power boats from Changi Sea Sports Club towing their Optimists and Laser dinghies back.. WaHAhAHA.. scary right? The no wind condition + the strong current going from pasir ris to changi direction made sailing undesirable..
When i got back, i was told to lift up my rudder and use it to paddle back..

Need Improvement

'Hand over hand' method of sheeting in needs to be worked on. The ropes get tangled up when i use the Hand over Hand method.
The mainsheet gets caught at the transom end when i'm gybing on the run.. HAVE to remember to give the mainsheet a tug when on the run!
Hiking out to flatten the boat.

Learnt / Success

When theres no wind, the rudder could be lifted up and paddling can take place.
Pointing when wave hits bow, bearing away when wave goes under the boat.

okie! I don't have any feelings for Rebekah anymore! I guess 'gan qing shi bu neng mien qiang de'.. Yupz! Went out with her and acted a little too weird, gues she got the message that she had her chance.. come to think of it, why did i ever like her? Was it just an infatuation? I think it is.. Guess we rushed the relationship thing a little too much.. i could still remember that day.. when both of us got together.. this thought came to my mind.. ' i'm happy yet i'm scared.. coz i don't really know her that well and she doesn't know me that well either.. and i hope it won't be catastrophic ' haha.. guess it really became catastrophic!! haha!
Oh well! Its all over.. what's left is the scar that will be on my heart forever.. a lesson that i'll know in my heart (d'oh)! hahaha... Never go to into a relationship until you know the other person well.. or very well!

Had my school's open house today! it was fun!.. went there at 8.30am and i started to prepare the micromouse booth! Throughout the day, i wasn't really there! I was walking around, entertaining my friends and enjoying myself!! hahaha.. met the 1st intake sailors! soo cool! been awhile since all of us are together talking! haha!

Met Raymond later at Bugis and went to St. Joseph's Church for the feast of St. Jude.. Ponned tuition to go.. but decided that 30 dollars is worthwhile compared to the countless times St. Jude has helped me in my hopeless situations.. THANK YOUR ST. JUDE! =))

Got my results back! And i got promoted! haha!! SOO HAPPY! Got 62.5 for my chem! haha! 46 for my Bio and 48.5 for maths!! woohoo!!!
My sista did well too!! Soo happy!! So proud of her! haha!
However, Julia and Kala didn't quite make it.. =( They were talking to the teachers in school about supplementary papers..sigh.. =((
I really really hope that both of them can get promoted! I enjoy their friendship and the laughter in class and without them, it will be different in class!
I shall start praying the Prayer of St. Jude for Julia, Kala, Candace, Rena and i'll pray that they will be allowed to take supplementary paper.. I think they will study hard if they are given a second chance..

Ahhhhh.. Help meeeeee withhhhhh rebekahhhhh! someebody!!
Heres the highlight of the conversation i had with Rebekah on saturaday!

' Do you still have feelings for me? '
' no'
' Izzit because you like somebody else? '
' after you, there was a crush'
' Do you have a gf or something?'
' no... '
' Do you think that we stand a chance? '
' maybe..'
' really, Do you think that we stand a chance? '
' maybe, really! '
' then she said, okie then, hope to go out next week '

What does she want? I seriously don't know how to feel.. i'm numb.. and i do not know how to answer.. really! First, she kicks me away and now she wants me back..
Its something like ' When you have it, u ignore it. When you dun have it, u want it ' Sheesh! Okie! i decided! If and IF i go out with her, i'll see whether i still have feelings for her.. if yes, then good lor.. if not.. then yah.. she had her chance..
I'm too afraid to love whole-heartedly anymore.. Guess she instilled this fear in me. I dun want to be fooled again. I was devoted, i loved whole-heartedly and all i wanted was just for her to love me.. it doesn't matter how much love she can give.. a little is all i ask for.. or maybe some form of acknowledgement.. yah.. So, lets wait and see what happens coz its very uncertain now.. i don't know what to do and Cynthia says that i'm entitled to the time! Oh yes i am!
Also, i felt a change in rebekah.. During the period of time when i was avoiding her.. she was trying to force friendship down on me.. like yah! and i was this there being calm!
I dunno lar!!

SAILING LOG #2
Went sailing yesterday!!! WooHOo!! okie!! Too slack to write a log in some book.. so i decided to write here..

Rigging the boat up was very bad! i forgot how to tie the outhaul system. Tie a bowline at the hole at the boom end then go round the clue twice before pulling it round the mast. Slacken the outhaul until the depth of the sail is about 6 inches or the size of a hand( fingers spread). Tie a knot to prevent outhaul from slacking too much.
I did approximately 30 tacks and 15 gybes... When i gybed on the run, theres a high tendancy that the mainsheet will get caught at the transom. So, the 'tugging' method works, but the tug has to be a hard tug.. really hard.

Need improvement
After tacking, i tend to let go of the tiller for a second or two..
My acceleration is very slow, especially sheeting of mainsheet. I'm not very used to the 'Hand over hand' competition style of sheeting the mainsheet in.
When i was on the run, it was rather smooth, however the boat still rolling to the left and right.. Guess, i still need to practice putting my weight in the centre of the boat to keep it stable..
When recovering from a hiking position, i have to jerk my butt to get into the boat and sometimes, there may be accidental points.. need to find a way to get back onto the gunrail without changing course...

Success
One successful thing was that i managed to speed up the boat by keeping it flat when it is overpowered..by sheeting out, hiking or pointing.. and it moves faster.. however i wasn't able to plane. need more wind i guess..
