Date: 21/07/03
To: Head of Department of Languages

Dear Sir,

I am the parent of Wong Wing On Winfrid from Class 02S54
My son has consulted me on the option of not continuing Chinese as he feels that he has obtained satisfactory results for the entry to University based on the results of the November 2002 paper (D7). Thus, after much thought, Im now writing to inform you that I am giving permission for my son to discontinue Chinese for the following reasons:
He has been weak in his mother tongue language all along and by letting him continue to struggle for it even after August for the third time would undoubtedly affect the balance of his other A level subjects which are heavy and this may produce undesirable outcomes. I feel that by letting him drop Chinese, it would free him more time to polish up on his already weak A level subjects for the upcoming A level Examination.
Therefore, I hope that together with the consent of his Chinese teacher, Mr Lim Teck Chye, you will understand his situation and grant him permission to discontinue Chinese now even before the results of the Chinese AO level are released. If there are any enquires, please do not hesitate to contact me.

lalala.. went for medical check up today! haha.. guess what? I'm in PES D!
Pending investigation coz they are requesting information from NUH.. i was hospitalised for a week when i was young and even went through cranial scan..
hmm.. Doctors speculate that it was due to the high stress level that i was expriencing coz i didn't want to leave my mum and go to school.. Was with my mum 24/7 before my first day of school.. yupz
Dunno what's gonna happen now, but i predict that when i get my results in 3 month's time, it'll be PES B..

Went for my primary school gathering in the evening at Marina South.. haha.. quite fun larh.. met some old friends and we talked and catched up on lotsa stuff! Like who's attached, who's gonna get married first.. all those crappy bo liao stuff! haha.

Saturday, July 19, 2003

ah. Finally, i have the time to blog!
As some of u may have heard, yupz, we lost in the micromouse competition..
Here's what happened..
Dexiang's mice ( Nu-er and er-zi ) didn't get into the finals due to software and hardware problems. My mouse on the other hand got into the finals and got 1st for prelims..
The 2nd day was the fastest mouse race and i came in 3rd, losing only 0.55 seconds to the 2nd place - i got 20.11 while ITE tampines got 19.66
Third day was disastrous, i wanted the mouse to move faster, much faster than prelims and increased the speed drastically, in the end it crashed and burned.
I was a speed demon who crashed and burned. Oh Well.
Anyway, i spent the whole of last night and today thinking about what went wrong, i came up with another conclusion, the left sensor was badly bent that's why it turned before the actual turning point..
SighHhH..
Realised that this is the first competition that i'm walking home with nothing out of my 11 competitons in 5 yrs..
yupz!
Oh yah, and during the competition we did mobile tuning.. We loaded SAJC's micromouse maze which is about 9 feet long onto a lorry and drove it away last friday.. on the days of the competition, the maze was driven to Great World City's underground carpark where we tuned the mouse there.. It was very very hot! But it was fun!
To think of it, last yr was better.. We tuned the mouse on the lorry while on the move to Great World City.. And at a traffic light, we were flanked by two SBS buses with people giving us weird stares.. They may be thinking ' What are these boys doing at the back of a lorry carrying laptops and playing with miniature robots?? '
haha..

Andrew, Tsehao and Bobby.. Thanks a zillion for all the help given! It's cool to have seniors like u guys! heh!

Oh yah, i kinda miss school.. Missed the people i always hang out with! heh.. Coz before and during the micromouse competition, i had minimal interaction.. haha.. could still remember going to school on monday when i crapped and crapped like crazy.. Friends thought i was going bonkers and some thought i was high on oxygen.. hahah..
And in 4 days, i spent less than 5 hrs at home in all.. i was out of the house most of the time.. only came home to reload on my clothings and collect a few stuff.. And i was deprived of sleep, hardly had the time to sleep! Worst still, i had no time to enjoy eating my meals, i even skipped meals during those few days.. hmm

lalala.. Oral was quite okay.. The passage was difficult though.. alot alot of chim chim words! However, the conversation was easier.. the examiner asked me this question ' Singapore has taken care of you and nurtured you, what are u going to do when u grow up to repay singapore? '
Free frag arh, crapped all the way! Talked about working to help the economy, serving NS coz when we were young the country 'protected' us so it's now our time to defend the nation, not to spoil singapore's reputation when we go overseas and finally since the country's progress is based directly on the education level of the country, so when we grow up we should be teachers since knowledge was passed to us through teachers and by teaching, we educate the children to help singapore in the future in more ways than one..

Okay.. I just updated my blog and removed the song, coz it annoys the hell outta me whenever i visit the blog.. yupz! Imagine it keep playing over and over again whenever i click reload! maddness!

lalala.
been awhile since i last blogged. hmm. 3 days? Was very very busy these few days especially tuesday.. ahhh.. thought i'd have time to enjoy after the exams but nooo... ahhhhh =(
Oh Well.. that's life. haha.
Went to the AWWA School for Disabled children for CIP yesterday. We had a tour of the school and what i saw made me feel sad coz the it just seems so unfair to them and i was a little scared too coz i didn't know what to do. yupz. Anyway, we were told to do maintenance work for our 3 hours CIP hours and i think the 5 boys who did the clearning of the balcony, railings and 30+ wheelchairs really enjoyed clearning the place, could see it in their faces.. I guess we enjoyed it because somehow we were playing a part to help them though not directly. heh. The girls did the library and interaction with the children.. haha.

Today, the most interesting thing happened to me in the toilet.. my friend started this conversation with this 60 odd yrs old cleaner while i was shitting. And after shitting, he was still talking so i had to stay in the toilet to accompany him.. gosh.. the boys toilet stinks lorh, i wonder how i survived! haha.. The man was like talking about the failure of singapore's education system and stuff like this. He spoke in chinese, and he spoke rawthar fast. So i had problems deciphering. Anyway, he said something like in life we have to be upright and firm, we have to see to believe and we do not necessarily have to believe what we hear. Coz sometimes, what we hear may all be lies just to convince us to do some stuff. yupz. it struck me, coz sometims we are all guilty of such stuff. We tend to listen to the rumours and believe in it and begin to condemn others...he said that this is one of the flaws of society, which i believe is quite true..
Yupz.. just some thoughts.. haha..

On a lighter note, i managed to move half of the 13x13 maze out from the computer lab and to the art cum micromouse room to prepare for the interschool micromouse competition next week! ahhhhhhhhhh... it's the time of the year again!

Was busy this weekend with 1) JC ministry's website on saturaday and it's not really done larh.. spent abou 2 hrs generating some html code.. quite cok coz i'm very very rusty in html liaoz.. the last time i did a proper webby was in '97.. So it's quite an achievement to get this site up and going! heh.

lalala.. 2) my sec 2 class bbq on sunday.. the BBQ was fun!! lalala. Met 4 of my ex-teachers.. and it's the first time since G-D knows when my sec 2 got together.. lalala..

Wah. I finally have the time to sit down and blog. Been busy since i got home.. My dog 'shat' on the floor, organising BBQ on sat.. and lots more! ah!

haha. Chem paper totally sucked today. Had this very very very bad stomach ache during the paper, but i didn't want to go toilet to waste that 10 mins shitting. So i endured and when i did that, my mind's objective changed from trying my best to answer the questions to answering as fast as possible so that i can go shit. that really sucked. Was struggling to concentrate and to endure the pain. ARGH. And i couldn't finish the paper, when i reached the last question, i had less than 5 mins to do an 8 marks question. So i left it blank in the end. Oh well, it's just block test 2. I didn't really put much prep. in it anyway. Took only 2-3 days to study chem..

Went out with Jas, Jieyong, Lydia and Shao Min to orchard to eat Sakae after the paper.. hahha.. and u know what? I had my FIRST (y'hear that? FIRST! ) NEL-North-East Line joy ride today! It was so so so cool! The tunnels have lights leh!! dun play play! The tunnels look are like Half-Life's Facility.. U know when u first start playing the single-mission, there's an in-game movie.. Yupz, it's exactly the same! The effects of the lights in the tunnel and stuff! haha. Best thing was, there was this 'transporter' at Dhoby Ghaut moving people around!! U know the Underwater world kind? haha.

We arrived at Wheelock's Sakae Sushi 45 mins before the buffet. SO we decided to take two plates ( la cart) style and spent 45 mins eating the stuff on two plates. haha. At 3pm! We called for a new bill! and hurray! Buffet! haha. We ate and ate and ate and ate like mad like mad like mad!! Most of the things we ordered were in quantities of 4 and 6. In the end, we 'ate' 46 plates! haha. Is that cool or wart?
=P

Supposed to watch movie after that. But decided not to for one reason or the other. haha. So we went to Borders and slacked around until 6!
U know what? the coolest thing about Borders is that, at the CDs section, u just have to scan the barcode to listen to the CD! So so cool!
I was scanning like nobody's business! hahaa. Quite deprived, i know.

haha.. Bio paper went quite fine.. considering that i studied like 1-2 chapters.. out of the entire core syllabus.. hmm.. can larh.
Left 2 out of 6 structured questions blank. Oh yah, and the answers for the other 4 questions were all BULLshit. hahaha. But it looked as if i studied so i'm safe from death.
The essay part was the most exciting. We had to write two essays.. so i managed to crap the two part, 20mark essay out.. I think it looked convincing.. It's about the Proteins, Glycolipids and Cholesterol's function on the membrane.. and the explanation of the ways for molecules to get into the cell.

Next up, the 2nd essay was on kidney's water regulation.. Crapped a 'lil on that. When it went to ' State the disadvantages of kidney dialysis for a kidney failure patient'
oh my oh my, i crapped so much that it became an essay (1 page long).. and i think that part was worth like 2 marks??
Wrote about.. It being expensive, very painful-imagine the amount of pain the person has to go through until his painful death, waste of time - waste of time.. can't do any stuff..
hahaha.. That is the best part of my two essay questions..
They call it verbal diarrhoea, i call it written diarrhoea!

2/40 guaranteed. WhEEeEEeE.

Speaking of diarrhoea,
And i HATE having diarrhoea during exams. ARGH.

Oh yah.. And maths paper was miraculously easy... Should pass.. but it's a matter of how well i'll do now.. i'm under alot of pressure especially for maths.. some may call it self-applied, some may not.. Parents and school... but sometimes things can't be avoided..
Worst thing is that parents may not be pressurizing you, but since one sibling has set the standard, i have to (try my best to) hit the standard..
